Pretty crazy the quality you can get out of a phone these days. Won’t replace the 5D but how great is it to have a great video camera in your pocket, always with you.

Fun picture over at Digilloyd about the types of cameras seen the in the wild these days. He was on a trip to Yosemite and found three would be photographers using an iPad, iPhone and simple point and shoot. Small sample group to be sure but still interesting, is this where photography is going?

Lytro is the new photography startup that is trying to change both how you photograph and how you edit your photographs after the fact. They are claiming that they can record multiple light fields allowing them to let you focus your shot after you’ve taken it in your post processing. They have called this a Living picture.

You’ll need a new camera to do this along with all new software to make your picture a living picture. But if this turns out to be true it’ll be pretty amazing when you can take a photo and re-focus to change what you want to convey in your photograph. Hopefully we’ll see what you can do with these photos other than play with them on the web. I’d love to see what they actually print up as if you want to hang one on the wall.
